Driving Instructor ripping off students & parents

Posted by Tim Clarke on Saturday, August 20, 2011 Under: Tim Clarke: Instructors Advice

Parents must be aware that they may be taken to the cleaners by shonky driving instructors

It is important to communicate with your son or daughter an inquire about the lesson they have been on

It is very rare but it is happening
where an instructor
will have a student park at the side of the road for an extended time waffling on about anything to kill time

Also note the finishing time and the urgency to make another booking

Many learners are of the belief that if they go to another instructor they will have to start at the beginning again, this is far from the reality.

An instructor who knows their job will assess your driving skills within five minutes and give you a plan of tasks to better your driving ability and get results

The best results are achieved by driving and practising different manoeuvres as often as possible during the course of your lesson

You will not get results by being parked at the side of the road

If your instructor prattles on about their achievements and their home life pets or family “give that instructor the flick” because the lesson is about you and getting results.

Take a lesson with each driving instructor in your area and you will soon realise who is giving you the best value for your parents hard earned money

Recently a student who had been with another instructor told me that the instructor insisted on the learner to check the rear vision mirror every ten seconds

I can assure you that if some instructors are audited by the RTA they will end up in court for incorrect logbook management

My advice to parents and students is be more vigilant and open your eyes to getting the best instruction to make you a better driver "I just want my licence is not the proper attitude"

Listening to friend who say that a particular RTA Registry gives you your licence easier is a load of rubbish

You must pass your driving test on your own merit at the time of your test and if you do not make serious blunders then you have a great chance of passing

Do not be misguided
Driving a driving school car for your test does not make a difference
in the examiners decision of your ability to be a safe driver

Do not be fooled by thinking you can outwit the examiner, they are skilled and are qualified at their job

Being a safe driver is up to you to make the correct decisions to be safe and have the right attitude
